In whcih I struggle with production management due to ADHD, leading to chaos and mental overload. To streamline operations, I transitioned data from Google Sheets to Airtable and implemented automated order updates. Oh, and created forms for tracking inventory and production, resulting in improved order management and reduced mental strain, allowing for more creative focus.
A modeler’s bench is constantly shifting and evolving, almost like a living thing. Or at least that’s the case with mine. From the time I came back to the hobby with a cheap folding table from Costco, I’ve been tinkering and rejiggering.
For the past few years, though, my bench has been *fairly* static. I’ve made a few organizational tweaks – moved some paints here, some supplies there. Swapped out the fluorescent shop lights for LEDs. But the big stuff, I’ve left mostly alone.

With a sabbatical from work, however, I’ve had the opportunity to undertake some significant adjustments. A mid-life upgrade (MLU), if you will.
What wasn’t working?

A final push, an interlude to drag the $*@#*$@#% Christmas tree inside, and at last, Bench Mk.II is ready to go. Mostly. You can follow the earlier progress HERE and…
Slowly but surely, Bench Mk.II is coming together. More shelves are up and the stash is being, er, stashed... Nearer the bench proper, the paint racks have gone up. These…
When I came back to modeling in July 2010, I put my bench together with two folding tables bought on the cheap and whatever spare bits I could scrounge together. I mean…I made a paint rack out of unused shelves, PVC tees and Diet Dr. Pepper cans! And a light mount out of an unused desk hutch, a few lengths of wood, a bungee cord and some chains jacked from some hanging plant baskets.
With the move, it’s been my intention to rethink some things and put together a better, more functional bench. Bench Mk.II. (more…)
