I’m not a fan of vinyl tires. Never have been. Awful paint adhesion, difficult to remove mold seams, awkward gaps and fit with the wheels, all of it. Generally, if it has vinyl tires, they’re getting replaced by resin. The only exceptions in my display cabinet are when there literally were not wheels available (that’s now a thing of the past with 3D printers…).
AK’s recent forays into offroady things brought with it some awesome subjects (Toyota FJ43! Land Rover Series IIa!), and some annoying-ass vinyl tires.
With the FJ I was working on earlier in the year, I went through the hassle of designing some better wheels and tires.
I was kinda mentally grumbling about having to do so again with the Land Rovers, when I saw that FC Model Trend already had a set of resin weighted tires…so…yoink.
Reader, it was a most foul yoink indeed. A yoink filled with regret.
This is what showed up.
Why are the supports so huge? Why are the tires oriented vertically? What’s the story with the shit-ass tread?
These not only aren’t good. They’re awful. They’re substantially WORSE than the kit tires and wheels.
Do not buy these pieces of trash. I can’t believe a company would let this shit go out the door. And quality this bad – worse than the kit parts, for no benefit whatsoever – should be called out.
Highly NOT recommended.
I almost ordered a set of burnt out T-72 wheels but read a couple of comments on Missing Lynx on how bad some of their products are and decided to pass on them. Seeing this I’m glad I did.

Unfortunately now that 3D printers are becoming affordable crapola like this is an opportunity to make a quick buck and yes you’re right, far worse than the kit supplied modeled tires. Making note of “manufacturer”.
